Ingredients

  • 2 tbspvegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 tbspDried Basil
  • 1 1/2 tbsporegano
  • 3 largegarlic cloves chopped
  • 1 largeonion, chopped
  • 1 cupbrown lentils rinsed
  • 8 cupbeef broth
  • 1 pinchcayenne pepper
  • 1 tbspsoy sauce or marmite
  • 3 largecarrots chopped into bite-size pieces
  • 1 largecan diced tomatoes stewed or plain
  • 1salt as desired

Steps

  1. 1

    Sautee basil, oregano, garlic, and onion.

  2. 2

    Add lentils and continue sauteeing 2 - 3 mins, stirring constantly.

  3. 3

    Add broth, cayenne pepper, and soy sauce/marmite. Bring to a simmer.

  4. 4

    Add carrots. Simmer 30 mins.

  5. 5

    Add tomatoes and simmer another 30 - 45 mins. Salt if desired.
