With a name like that, I just had to try them and you can only make them on a snowy day. They are really very good. The first time I made them according to the recipe and the second time I made them by placing 1 egg in a measuring cup and adding enough milk to make 1 cup.

Ingredients

12 servings
  1. 2 cupall-purpose flour (500 mL)
  2. 1 cuplightly packed brown sugar (250 mL)
  3. 1 tbspbaking powder (15mL)
  4. 1 tspsalt (5 mL)
  5. 3 tbspmargarine, melted (45 mL)
  6. 1 cupmilk (250 mL)
  7. 1 1/2 cupsnow (375 mL)
  8. 3/4 cupraisins or currants (175 mL)

Steps

    Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 12-cup muffin tin

  2. 2

    In a bowl combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder and salt; mix well. Add margarine and milk; mixture will be lumpy. Quickly add snow and raisins; stir just until blended.

  3. 3

    Spoon batter into prepared muffin tin, dividing evenly. Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned.

    Makes 12 muffins
