Ingredients

  1. 2 cupsspinach, chopped
  2. 1/2 cuptuvar dal (split pigeon pea)
  3. 1onion, chopped
  4. 1 inch ginger, chopped
  5. 2-3garlic cloves, chopped
  6. 2 tbsp.olive oil
  7. to tastesalt
  8. 1/4 tsp.turmeric powder
  9. 1 tsp.coriander-cumin powder
  10. 1/2 tsp.garam masala powder
  11. 1/2 tsp.red chilli powder
  12. 1/2 limejuice of lime
  13. as neededcheese to garnish (opt)

Steps

  1. 1

    Soak the dal for 30 minutes. Heat oil in a pan and saute the onion, ginger and garlic till light brown.

  2. 2

    Add the coriander-cumin powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and red chilli powder mixed with little water.

  3. 3

    Saute for a few seconds. To it, add the dal, spinach, salt and 3 cups water. Pressure cook for 3 whistles.

  4. 4

    When cool, blend in a mixer, add lime juice and heat through. Serve, garnished with some cheese on the top.
