Preheat oven to 375°F

Sift flour and baking powder into a bowl

Cream the margarine and sugar together in a bowl until light and fluffy

Beat in the eggs gradually, adding a teaspoon of flour between each addition

Gently fold in the rest of the flour with the milk and vanilla

Spoon equal portions of the mixture into cake pans and level them

Bake in the centre of the oven for 30-35 minutes

When cold, sandwich together with jam and cream and dust the top with icing sugar
