Mandarin Orange Jello Cake

I kinda made this up when I was younger. You can do this with any flavor almost and add the fruit of your choice. My husband LOVES this cake! I'll make sure to post pictures asap.
Mandarin Orange Jello Cake
I kinda made this up when I was younger. You can do this with any flavor almost and add the fruit of your choice. My husband LOVES this cake! I'll make sure to post pictures asap.
Steps
- 1
Follow directions on your cake box to bake cake.
- 2
During last 10 min of your cakes baking time make jello in a container and put it in the fridge
- 3
Take your cake out of the oven and let cool for about 10 min
- 4
Take the blunt end of a wooden spoon or anything to poke holes about an 1 1/2" apart through the whole cake
- 5
Take your jello out and stir it around it should still be runny but a little thicker than it was to begin with and take a spoon and scoop some out into each hole. Don't worry if it spills on the cake.
- 6
Continue to fill holes until you feel you have added at least 1/2 to 3/4 of the jello. Don't use all of it though unless you want your cake more like jello than cake.
- 7
Let cake sit in fridge for about 45min to an hour to let the jello thicken up. In this time you can take Cool Whip out to soften up a bit so you can spread it.
- 8
Remove cake from fridge and spread Cool Whip on cake. Drain Mandarin oranges and spread out over the top of your cake.
- 9
Now grab a great big slice and enjoy all your hard work :-D
