Looking for a good homemade recipe besides my own but didn't find any;so decided to put this one in. Can substitute canned beans but it makes a difference in taste. Same if use different seasonings. Experiment and enjoy.

Looking for a good homemade recipe besides my own but didn't find any;so decided to put this one in. Can substitute canned beans but it makes a difference in taste. Same if use different seasonings. Experiment and enjoy.

Ingredients

  1. 1 lbdry pinto beans
  2. 1/2onion, chopped
  3. 1/4celery (opt)
  4. 1/2 packagesturkey hamburger(more if want)
  5. 2 candiced or sliced tomato of choice
  6. 1 cantomato sauce
  7. 1/2chili powder
  8. 1/4ground cumin
  9. 1/4red pepper flakes
  10. 1/4 tspminced onion or real

Cooking Instructions

    Cook pinto beans for 90-120 minutes in boiling water.

    Meantime, chop onion, celery(opt), and hamburger together.

    While those 2 are cooking, put 2 cans of either Italian sliced tomatoes or tomatoes with green chili depending on how spicy your family likes it in a crockpot or large stockpot or pan.

    Combine all ingredients if beans are done. Add 1 large can of tomato sauce or 2 small cans.

    Now come the seasonings: I adjust to taste but these are basics. Have also used a sprinkle of steak seasoning before.

    Can sprinkle seasonings on meat as it cooks or add to crockpot when combine all or both depending on how spicy you like it. Erither way delicious!!
