Steps

Soak rice of good quality for about an hour and then grind very fine with 4-5 tableapoons of cold water to a paste.

Dissolve the rice paste in 1/2 cup milk and make it thin.

Mix the rice paste with remaining 3 cups milk in a heavy bottomed pan. Cook on medium heat, stirring continuously, till the mixture is of creamy consistency.

Add sugar and cardamom powder and dissolved saffron and stir.

Simmer till sugar is fully dissolved and then boil for 1 minute.

Remove from heat and add kewda essence and half of shedded almonds and pistachios.

Pour the mixture in the earthen container.

Chill. Decorate the dish with shredded almond, pistachio, silver leaf, saffron and rose petals.
