Prepare your baking tin and set aside. preheat your oven to 180 degrees.

Measure all your ingredients. take your dry ingredients and sugt them into a medium bowl. i.e flour and baking powder and set aside.

In another bowl mix the sugar and butter/ margarine

Using a mixer or a whisk, cream the two for 3 to 5 minutes until pale. Add the eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly until one egg is fully incorporated before adding another one.

Add vanilla essence. continue creaming for another minute. set your mixer aside.

Fold your flour alternating with the milk until fully mixed.

Pour the batter into the cake pan and place in the oven middle rank to bake

Bake for about 40-50 minutes or until a knife or a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool for about 10 minutes in the tin then remove cake from the pan and set on a tray or cooling rank, ensure your cakes cools completely before frosting/icing
