Wholemeal chapati

My Nigerian friend requested me to teach her to cook chapati. She wanted wholemeal chapati with sugar and salt in them. The challenge is she didn't want to taste the sugar or salt. I normally cook mine with both wholemeal and normal wheat flour together scale 1/2:1 and put salt only. The outcome was great.

Steps
- 1
Mix all your dry ingredients in your mixing bowl
- 2
Add 4 tblsp cooking oil in and mix it
- 3
Start adding the warm water little by little as you knead the mixture into a soft dough. Knead it for 10 minutes. Then cover it and leave it for 20 minutes.
- 4
Divide the dough into small balls. On a flat surface /chopping block make flat circle using a rolling pin apply some oil and fold it into a small ball. You will do this to every ball one at a time.
- 5
Leave the balls for 10 minutes as you prepare your stove and put your chapati pan on the fire.
- 6
When the pan is hot, make circles again one at a time and place on the pan. When every side of the circle has brown patches apply little oil on every side. Remove from the pan and place it in a dry covered dish.
- 7
After cooking all the circles /chapatis you can serve with anything you want.
- 8
My friend served the chapatis with terere/muchicha, eggs and goat meat later on with beans. She did enjoy her meal
