Quick Buñuelos with Piloncillo Syrup
A traditional treat at celebrations, especially during the holiday season.

In a saucepan, bring the 2 cups of water, piloncillo, and anise seeds to a boil. Cook until the syrup thickens. Once thickened, remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes. Strain the syrup through a fine sieve and set aside.

Fry the flour tortillas in enough oil until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels.

Serve the buñuelos drizzled with piloncillo syrup.
