Enjoy your summer with an incredibly tender juicy bird barbecued on top of an open beer can for added flavor – a delicious beer can chicken with grilled vegetables equals the perfect summer meal!
Steps
- 1
Rinse the chicken inside and out. Dry very well with paper towels until all the moisture is absorbed.
- 2
In a bowl, mix together the paprika powder, red chilli powder, pepper powder, garlic paste, melted butter, olive oil, and salt. Rub the inside and outside of the chicken with the spice mixture. Leave it in the refrigerator for 4 hours.
- 3
Preheat the grill on high heat with all burners turned on.
- 4
Crack open your beer can and (drink or) pour half of the beer into a glass. Place the beer can on a baking sheet or steel holder.
- 5
Carefully place the chicken on top of the beer can until the can is almost half inside the chicken cavity. Place the whole chicken with the beer can upright on the barbecue grill.
- 6
Close the lid and cook on low flame for 1.5 hours until the chicken is browned, the meat becomes tender, and the juices run clear. The steaming beer keeps the meat moist while the high heat crisps the skin, delivering a perfect bird.
- 7
Once the chicken is done, use oven mitts and tongs to carefully remove the chicken and beer can. The beer can will be stuck to the chicken, so be very careful to not spill the beer as it will be extremely hot!
- 8
Carefully cut the chicken into pieces and serve with the grilled corn. Enjoy immediately.
