Easy Pakodas ( Kerala evening snack)

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cupBesan flour ( gram flour)
  2. 1/2 cupIdli/dosa batter (optional , adding this helps in making the pakoda nice and crispy)
  3. 1/2 cupFinely chopped purple onion
  4. 1 tspFinely chopped ginger
  5. Curry leaves -few leaves
  6. 3-4Green chilies
  7. 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  8. 1/2 tspchili powder (depending upon spice level)
  9. 1/4 tspasafoetida powder
  10. 3-4 tbspChopped Cilantro leaves
  11. to tasteSalt
  12. Refined sunflower oil / cooking oil for frying

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Mix all the above mentioned ingredients with water to form a thick batter. Make sure not to add too much water since this needs to be fried in oil.

    In a frying pan add some refined oil / vegetable oil and wait till oil becomes hot. Take the batter in a teaspoon or fork to get small amounts and fry it in oil.
    Adjust the heat accordingly and wait till pakora becomes crispy .

    Serve hot with tomato ketchup and hot tea .
