Measure all the ingredients

Preheat the oven at 160 degrees

Grease baking tin and put aside

Sieve flour(this helps to incorporate air to help the cake to rise)

Mix butter and sugar till it becomes fluffy or white in colour

Beat one egg at a time in bowl and add to the mixture

Add vanilla essence and beat for one minute

Add flour alternating with milk(start with flour and end with flour for better results)

Pour the batter to the greased baking tin and place at the centre of oven

Bake for 40 mins

When is ready(as in when you put a knife and comes out clear) cool for 15-30 mins then remove from baking tin

Cool for 4 hrs(wrapping with cling film)

Frosting procedure

Beat the butter till becomes white or fluffy

Add the sieved icing sugar and beat till incorporated

Add vanilla essence and beat for 1 min

Now frost your cake(decorating)
