Cooking Instructions
- 1
This is the most important step to do: Cover the lid of the steamer with a kitchen towel to prevent condensation from the lid from falling on to the steamed cake. Fill the steamer with water (below the steaming plate). Cover the steamer with the lid and slowly bring water to boil.
- 2
Place the cupcake liners in the molds. Set aside.
- 3
Beat together eggs, granulated sugar, and emulsifier with a mixer on a high speed until pale and fluffy (around 10 minutes).
- 4
Change to the lowest speed. Add flour and soda water alternately and gradually. Beat again with high speed for about 5 minutes.
- 5
Steam for 12 minutes over high-heat. DO NOT open the steamer before 12 minutes.
- 6
Remove from the heat. Transfer the steamed cake onto a wire rack. Let it cool. Enjoy! 😋
- 7
Note: Save steamed cake in a small plastic storage bag each. It can stay soft and fluffy for couple days.

Rich Chocolate Steamed Cake (made with a silicone steamer) Rich Chocolate Steamed Cake (made with a silicone steamer)
I made this while keeping in mind that a batter without egg would be firm so the chocolate would not sink. You can use bar chocolate or baking chocolate.Any kind of chocolate, such as dark or milk, is fine. Please adjust the baking time according to the size of your steam case (It will also vary by the room temperature.) Green Moss Steamed Cake (Kek Lumut) Green Moss Steamed Cake (Kek Lumut)
This is one of many popular cakes in Borneo Sarawak Malaysia. It is a moist steamed #cake, very rich and softly densed. This cake is steamed for 4 hours and lasts a month or more if wrapped in cling film in air tight container in the freezer. There are variations of this cake online and this one is the original recipe of Green Moss cake or more famously known as Kek Lumut. This cake sells at 120-140 back at home. Very expensive so people learn how to make it at home. #dessert #dessert #teatime #baking #food #cakes #cake #starch #sweet #kek #keklapis #heirloom #familyrecipe Pinkblanket's Kitchen -

Simple Flour Uirō Steamed Cake Simple Flour Uirō Steamed Cake
I used to use rice flour when making uiro steamed cakes, but this time I put this easy variation. It's extremely hot when freshly out of the microwave, so make sure to cool down before slicing. When doing so, damp the knife (as written in Step 3). It's easier to slice that way. Recipe by AyakoOOOOO cookpad.japan -
Easy Sakura Ukishima (Japanese-style Steamed Cakes) for Cherry Blossom Viewing Easy Sakura Ukishima (Japanese-style Steamed Cakes) for Cherry Blossom Viewing
I learned how to make "Ukishima" from a Japanese confectionery chef. We made proper, traditional types with wasanbon (refined Japanese sugar), matcha and ama-natto (sugared beans). I made an unorthodox version by adding milk and making a marbled pattern! If you beat the egg whites too stiff, or steam it over high heat for too long, the top will crack, like a pound cake. But don't worry, it'll still taste good. If you're using homemade shiro-an, or soft bean paste, add only 1 tablespoon of milk. Recipe by Asamato cookpad.japan -
Two-Colored Matcha Adzuki Bean Steamed Cake made with a Hand Mixer Two-Colored Matcha Adzuki Bean Steamed Cake made with a Hand Mixer
I came up with a tri-color steamed bread recipe, but I had been wondering if I could make something enticing even without food coloring, which can make it difficult to divide the colors evenly. So I figured 2 colors would also taste good and wondered if it could work. When adding the amanatto and pouring in the matcha batter, disperse them evenly. If you just dump them in the middle and spread them out, they will mix into the bottom batter. This is made without sugar, but it's okay since the amanatto are sweet!
