Put the cooking pot on a stove, pour water and let it boil. Wash the spices (bay leaves, cinnamon, star anise, cardamom), add to the boiling water and then wash the rice add to the pot, add salt, cover and let it cook till soft, wash and strain in a colander. Then bring back the rice to the pot and let it simmer for few minutes.

In another pot, add water and washed bean, sliced onions and let it cook till soft. Keep it in a separate bowl

Wash the meat, put in a pot with water, sliced onions, spices, seasoning, salt and let it cook till soft.

Get a frying pan or pot, put oil and sliced onions and let it fry till soft, add grated tomatoes, red pepper and scotch bonnet and fry for 5 mins.

Add the cooked beans and meat and continue frying. Add desired quantity of seasoning, spices and salt to taste.

Serve the rice with the bean stew
