Ingredients

  1. 1 CupMix Daal
  2. 2 CupWater
  3. 1 Tea SpoonTurmeric Powder
  4. 1 Tea SpoonDry Mango Powder
  5. 1 Tea SpoonCoriander Power
  6. 1 Tea SpoonGaram Masala
  7. 1 Tea SpoonRed Chilli Powder
  8. 1 SpoonGinger Garlic Paste
  9. 1 Tea SpoonCumin Seeds
  10. 100 gramsChopped Tomatoes
  11. 100 gramsChopped Onion
  12. SomeChopped Coriander leaves
  13. Pinch Asafoetida (Hing)
  14. 2 SpoonsGhee
  15. To tasteCommon Salt

Steps

  1. 1

    Wash the daal and take it in a Pressure Cooker. Add water, turmeric powder and salt to taste

  2. 2

    Pressure cook it on low flame for 10-15 mins (2-3 whistles)

  3. 3

    Take a frying pan and put it on flame. Add ghee in it and allow it to become a little hot.

  4. 4

    Add cumin seeds and asafoetida. Stir for few secs until it starts crackling...

  5. 5

    Add the onions now and stir it till it becomes a light brown. Then add the tomatoes and ginger garlic paste. Stir it for approx 5 mins to allow the tomatoes to cook well...

  6. 6

    Add all the spices one by one and stir it for around 5 mins to save it from sticking to the pan bottom (add a splash of water if you see it's sticking)

  7. 7

    Now add the already cooked daal and mix it well. Keep it on flame for 1-2 mins and it's ready...

  8. 8

    Pour it in a serving bowl... Sprinkle some fresh chopped Coriander leaves and serve it hot.
