Onion Curd Idli

It is a very different, yummy and unique recipe where the idlis are steamed being topped with a mixture of curd, onion, green chilli, ginger, tomato, coconut, curry leaves and salt.

It is a very different, yummy and unique recipe where the idlis are steamed being topped with a mixture of curd, onion, green chilli, ginger, tomato, coconut, curry leaves and salt.

Soak rice and urad dal for 8 hours. Wash them well and blend to a smooth batter. Set the batter aside for 7-8 hours to ferment. Add salt and mix it well.

Combine curd, onion, green chilli, ginger, tomato, coconut, curry leaves and salt together to make a stuffing. Keep it aside.

Take enough water in an idli steamer and heat. Grease the idli plate lightly. Fill the moulds with batter topped with the above stuffing. When water begins to bubble and steam up, place the stand in the steamer.

Cover and steam for 10-15 minutes on a medium flame. Then remove the idli stand and set aside to cool down for 2-3 minutes.

With the help of a spoon, remove them to plate.

Serve the delicious idli with chutney or sambhar.
