This is the traditional and very old recipe of Bihar which contains less ingredients with delicious taste and makes me remind childhood days.Although it is cooked in earthenware handi but cooker can be used instead of that.It is served with spicy aloo matar mustard curry.

Steps

Wash the rice and keep aside.

Finely chop the lauki and keep aside.

Tear the packet of milk and keep aside.

Now,boil the water in the cooker (double of rice,as for 250grm we need 1/2 litre of water).

When water starts boiling add rice into it.

In other cooker boil the lauki for 10 minutes.

Now,add the lauki into half cooked rice with salt.

Let it cooked till rice cooked completely...

Lower the flame and add milk into rice.

Now,cook only for 5 minutes.

Switch off the flame and give tadka of ghee,cumin seeds, asafoetida and dry chillies.

Mix it well.It gives more taste when it is cooled completely and can be preserved for two days.

Serve it with papad, tomato chutney and aloo curry.
