Take a pan add water. when it comes to boiling point add oil salt then add flour mix well and cook for 2 minutes on a low flame mix well to make a dough consistency switch off the flame keep aside to cool.

Once the rice dough has cooled down knead into soft dough. knead well make small balls of lemon size.

Place all the prepared balls in a steamer (I used idli stand) and steam for 6 to 8 minutes and then switch off the flame

Heat oil in a wok and add mustard seeds.

When it starts cracking add curry leaves, hing and podi powder

Now add the steamed rice balls and mix well.

Mix gently so that all the things get nicely coated

At this moment you can taste and add more salt if needed

Yummy kolukattai are ready to serve hot.

Enjoy with or without coconut chutney
