Ingredients

  1. 1 cupbasmati or govindo bhog rice
  2. 1 cupmoong dal (husked & splited)
  3. 1-2bay leaf / whole red chilli one
  4. 1 teaspoonTurmeric powder
  5. 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  6. 2-3split green chilli
  7. To tasteSalt
  8. 1-2 teaspoonSugar
  9. 1 tablespoonGhee or clarified butter
  10. 11 cut into half
  11. 1/2 cupgreen peas
  12. 2cauliflower florets
  13. 1 tomato
  14. 1 tspginger grated

Steps

  1. 1

    Rinse and soak rice in water for 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    In a pan slow roast moong dal till light golden brown and aromatic.

  3. 3

    When the lentils become cool rinse them in water and keep aside.

  4. 4

    In a pressure cooker add ghee.Add bay leaf and Cumin seeds.Add one whole red chilli.

  5. 5

    Add grated ginger

  6. 6

    Saute for one minute

  7. 7

    Add chopped tomatoes green chilli and all vegetables.

  8. 8

    Add salt turmeric Powder and red chilli powder.

  9. 9

    Saute till tomato and veggies become tender.

  10. 10

    Add rice and dal saute for another two to three minutes.

  11. 11

    Pour 5 cups of water and stir well. Add one teaspoon sugar.

  12. 12

    Pressure cooker it on high heat till it give 4 to5 whistles.

    Served hot with some fried bringal.

  14. 14

    Sprinkle some ghee or clarified butter on the top of the khichudi.Your one pot healthy breakfast is ready to serve.
