Wacky Wednesday is great -til the economy takes a nose dive n you crave for burgers but are too broke to indulge. That's when I decided to learn how to do my own burgers . Here, is the first step. -The Buns.
Steps
- 1
Dissolve the yeast in warm water. Add oil and sugar. Let stand for 5 minutes; the mixture will look bubbly.
- 2
Mix in egg, salt, and flour to the yeast mixture. You will form a soft and slightly sticky dough.
- 3
Let dough sit for 5 minutes.
- 4
On a very well floured surface knead the dough until smooth. Continue to add flour as necessary to avoid the dough from sticking to your hands or the surface
- 5
Knead for 5 to 7 mins.
- 6
Divide the dough into ten buns - you may need to flour your hands for this. Place on baking Pan. Allow space between buns.
- 7
Cover and let rest for 15 minutes. Buns will grow but not necessarily double in size. In the meantime, preheat oven to 425°
- 8
Bake buns for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown. Test for doneness. Cool on a wire rack.
