Ingredients

6 hours 20 minutes
4 servings
  1. 250 gramsAlmonds
  2. 50 gramsMelon seeds/kharbuje ke beej
  3. 1 cupSugar
  4. 1 tablespoonGhee
  5. 1 cupMilk
  6. 1/2 teaspoonCardamom powder
  7. 12-15Saffron strands
  8. 1 teaspoonmilk for soaking and crushing saffron
  9. For garnishing:
  10. 6-8almonds chopped finely
  11. 1 tablespooncashews, almonds, walnuts, raisins and saffron strands for garnishing

Steps

6 hours 20 minutes

    Soak the almonds in water for six to seven hours or overnight.

  2. 2

    Remove the skin in the morning and grind the almonds and melon seeds finely in a blender.

  3. 3

    Heat the ghee in a heavy bottomed pan and add the almond paste and keep stirring on a low flame until light brown colour is achieved and you get the aroma.

  4. 4

    Add the milk and sugar and cook on a low flame stirring continuously, for a few minutes until the sugar dissolves.

  5. 5

    In a small bowl mix 7 -8 saffron strands and 1 teaspoon milk and crush them to get saffron flavoured milk.

  6. 6

    Add this to halwa, stir thoroughly, add chopped almonds and cardamom powder, and mix.

  7. 7

    Do the plating and garnish with cashews, almonds, raisins, walnuts and saffron strands
    Serve hot.
