Ingredients

  1. 1 tbspsplit yellow moong dal, washed and drained
  2. 1 tbspred lentil, washed and drained
  3. 1 tbspchana dal, washed and drained
  4. 1 tbsptuvar(arhar) dal, washed and drained
  5. 1/2 cupbroken wheat dhaliya, washed and drained
  6. 1/4 tspcumin seeds
  7. 4cloves
  8. 4peppercorns
  9. 4cardamoms
  10. 2'inch cinnamon
  11. 1/4 tspshahi jeera / caraway seeds
  12. 1/2 tspseaseme seeds
  13. 2 tbspghee
  14. 1 cupfinely chopped veggies (Carrot, beans, cauliflower)
  15. 1/2 cupfinely chopped coriander
  16. 1/2 cupfinely chopped mint leaves
  17. 1/2 cuponions cut lengthwise
  18. 1 cupmilk
  19. 2 tbspcurds
  20. 2 tspfinely chopped green chillies
  21. 2 tbspginger garlic paste
  22. For the garnish
  23. 2 tbspghee
  24. 1/2 cupdeep fried onions cut lengthwise
  25. 1/4 cupchopped mixed nuts, cashews and almonds
  26. to tasteSalt

Steps

  1. 1

    Combine yellow moong dal, Urad dal, masoor dal, tohar dal, peppercorns, jeera, shahi jeera, seaseme seeds, cinnamon, cardamom in a mixer grinder and blend to a smooth powder.

    Keep it aside.

  3. 3

    Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, add onions, green chillies, ginger garlic paste and saute on medium flame for 5mins.

  4. 4

    Add mixed vegetables, coriander, mint leaves, salt and saute for more 5mins.

  5. 5

    Add broken wheat daliya and 1/2 cup water, mix well and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  6. 6

    Add prepared dal powder, curds, milk, mix well and pressure cook it for 3 whistles.

  7. 7

    Allow it to cool naturally.

  8. 8

    Add 1cup of water and mash with help of potato masher till coarse.

  9. 9

    Serve hot garnished with melted ghee, deep-fried onions and nuts.

    Hyderabadi Vegetable Haleem served with chilled Raita
