The origins of Spinach with Chickpeas trace back to the Arab tradition in Andalusia. This civilization had a strong preference for vegetables and was the first to bring them to Spain from Persia, where, according to some experts, spinach was first cultivated. The 19th and 20th centuries were crucial for the popularization of this recipe among Spaniards, as experts say it became an essential everyday dish during Lent.
