Sudanese Mulah Naeimiya with Ground Beef
A wonderful recipe from traditional Sudanese cuisine, often served with asida or kisra (very thin, light flatbreads). Sometimes it's prepared for a regular breakfast tray, but it's always a staple dish on the Ramadan breakfast table. It has a unique, delicious flavor that everyone loves. My dear friend Namarq, who gave me the recipe with precise measurements, is the reason for my success with this dish. I learned it and wanted to share it with you all. I hope you enjoy it! Thank you 😊.

Steps
- 1
Dice the onion into small cubes and sauté in a little oil until golden brown.
- 2
Cut the tomato into pieces and blend it in a blender with the yogurt, sautéed onion, and flour.
- 3
Blend the mixture well until smooth. In a cooking pot, add 1 tablespoon of clarified butter or ghee, then pour in the blended mixture and stir well.
- 4
Add 1/4 cup of the prepared ground beef in sauce, salt, black pepper, and tomato paste. Stir well until the mixture thickens.
- 5
Once the mixture thickens, remove the pot from the heat.
- 6
When serving, drizzle warm clarified butter or ghee on top.
- 7
Note: If the mixture does not thicken, you can add a little okra powder (dried, ground okra), but usually this is not necessary and is only added if needed.
