Steps
- 1
Rinse the chival well and allow to dry in cotton cloth. Wash the dal and soaked for 6 to 7 hours.
- 2
Now finely chopped the chival vegetable and keep aside. Drain the soaked dal.
- 3
Then add the dal, green chilli, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, carom seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, salt in a mixture jar. Grind it coarsely without water.
- 4
Transfer to the mixing bowl. Add finely chopped onion and coriander leaves and chival. Mix well. Make round shape vada and keep aside.
- 5
Heat the oil in a pan. Arrange the vade in a frying pan on low heat. Cook and covered for 5 minutes.
- 6
Remove the lid and cook till it becomes golden and crisp. Then flip all the vada with the small spoon to cook the top side. Add oil if required.
- 7
Cook till it becomes golden and crisp. Switch off the gas. Chival vada is ready to serve. You can deep fry this vada but I prefer shallow fry. Serve hot with pudina chutney or sauce.
