I never thought about making my own bottled tomato and chili sauces until I found a recipe by Mba Shang Ai on Cookpad. It turns out they taste amazing, even better than store-bought sauces. The ingredients are more reliable, without preservatives or artificial coloring. The process is also simple.

Prepare the ingredients.

Boil the tomatoes and garlic for the tomato sauce, and for the chili sauce, boil the tomatoes, garlic, and chilies.

After boiling, it should look like this.

Put the tomatoes, chilies, garlic, and water into a blender, then blend until smooth.

Strain the mixture and pour it into a pan, add sugar, salt, and vinegar, and let it boil. Once boiling, add the cornstarch solution.

Stir continuously until it thickens slightly, but not too thick, as it will thicken more once cooled.

Remove from heat and let cool. The tomato sauce will look like this.

The chili sauce will look like this, redder because of the curly red chilies.

Sterilize the bottles you will use to store the sauces by boiling them in water.

Pour the tomato sauce and chili sauce into the bottles, seal tightly, and store in the refrigerator.
