Ingredients

  1. forMarination -
  2. 500 gmsChicken washed
  3. 700 gramsChicken
  4. 3potatoes cut into 4 pieces
  5. 1 tspRed Chilli Powder
  6. 3chopped onions
  7. 1/3 tspTurmeric Powder
  8. 2chopped tomatoes
  9. 1 tspSalt
  10. 2 tbspMustard Oil
  11. for Gravy -
  12. 5-6Medium Potatoes
  13. 4-5 tbspMustard Oil
  14. 2Bay Leaves
  15. 2Black Cardamoms
  16. 1Cinnamon Stick
  17. 2Dry Red Chilli
  18. 2Green Cardamoms
  19. 6-7Onions - Sliced
  20. 2 tbspGinger Garlic Paste
  21. 1 tspCumin Seeds
  22. 1 tspCumin Powder
  23. 1 tspCoriander Powder
  24. 1/3 tspTurmeric Powder
  25. to TasteSalt
  26. 2Tomatoes - Finely Chopped
  27. 1 tspRed Chilli Powder
  28. 1 tspGaram Masala
  29. as requiredCoriander Leaves to Garnish

Steps

  1. 1

    Wash and chop potatoes into four parts each. Heat oil in a pan & shallow fry potatoes. Keep aside.

  2. 2

    In the same oil, add green cardamoms, black cardamoms, cinnamom, dry chilli, cumin seeds & bay leaves. Saute for few seconds at low flame.

  3. 3

    Add sliced onions & saute at high to medium flame till turn golden brown. Add ginger garlic paste & cook for another 3 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt & red chilli powder. Mix well & cook for 1 minute.

  5. 5

    Add tomatoes & cook at low flame for 4-5 minutes.

  6. 6

    Add chicekn & mix properly. Switch the flame to low & cook chicekn upto 70% with a closed lid. This should take 20-25 mints.

  7. 7

    Add potatoes & cook for another 5 mints at low flame.

  8. 8

    Add 3 cups of water & cook for 10 mints with a covered lid.

  9. 9

    Add garam masala & cook for another 5 mints.

  10. 10

    Garnish with coriander leaves & serve hot with rice or chapatis.
