Ingredients

  1. 500 gBoneless chicken thighs
  2. 6 TablespoonsBread flour
  3. 1 teaspoonshichimi togarashi (seven spice powder)
  4. Marinade ingredients
  5. 1Whole egg
  6. 30 ccRice wine
  7. 0.5 teaspoonSalt
  8. 0.5 teaspoonwhite pepper powder
  9. 1 teaspoonshichimi togarashi (seven spice powder) -optional
  10. Nanban sauce
  11. 4 TablespoonsSoy sauce
  12. 4 TablespoonsWhite vinegar
  13. 2 TablespoonsMirin
  14. 1 teaspoonCaster sugar
  15. Tartare sauce
  16. 1Boiled egg
  17. 2 TablespoonsChopped onion
  18. 2 TablespoonsChopped gherkin
  19. 2 TablespoonsMayonnaise
  20. 1 teaspoonFrench mustard
  21. 1 teaspoonHoney
  22. 1 pinchSalt
  23. 1 pinchBlack pepper

Steps

  1. 1

    Put the chicken chunks into the marinade and mix well. Leave in the fridge for 30 minutes.

    Put all the ingredients for Nanban sauce into a sauce pan and bring it to boil. Then set it aside to cool.

    Put chopped onion in a bowl and add in a small pinch of sugar and salt. Marinate for 10 minutes and squeeze all the liquid out.

    Add all the ingredients for tartare sauce into a bowl and mix them well.

    Add in bread flour into the chicken bowl and let chicken chunks are coated with flour.

    Deep fry or pan fry the chicken chunks. Make sure they are all cooked and crispy. Dip all the chicken in the Nanban sauce and then place them on the serving plate. Pour the tartare sauce and sprinkle some shichimi togarashi (seven spice powder). Enjoy~
