Ingredients

  1. 1 cupmasoor dal
  2. 1 cupdrumsticks leaves
  3. 2 cupsrice
  4. 1onion finely chopped
  5. 1tomato finely chopped
  6. 2green chillies
  7. 1 teaspoonginger garlic paste
  8. 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  9. 1 teaspoongaram masala powder
  10. 1 teaspoonchili powder
  11. as requiredFew pods of cardamom, cloves and cinnamon
  12. 2 teaspoonghee
  13. to tasteSalt

Cooking Instructions

    In pan cook the rice till soft and drain the extra water

  2. 2

    In another pan take masoor dal, add two cups of water, salt and half of turmeric powder and cook till soft and mushy

  3. 3

    In a pan heat ghee, add the spices

  4. 4

    Now add chopped onion, tomato and chilli one by one

  5. 5

    Now add ginger garlic paste and saute and then add other dry masala one by one

  6. 6

    Now add drumsticks leaves and saute for few minutes

  7. 7

    Add cooked dal and cooked rice and mix well

  8. 8

    Add little water and cook on low flame for about five minutes.

  9. 9

    Masoor dal and drumstick leaves khichdi is ready.Serve hot with achar and papad
