Ingredients

30 minutes
2-4 servings
  1. 1 cuprice
  2. 1/2 cuptoor dal
  3. 4.5 cupswater
  4. 1.5 tspsalt
  5. 1 tspcoriander powder
  6. 1/2 tspcumin powder
  7. 1/2 tsphaldi
  8. 1/2 tspchilli powder (optional)
  9. 1 tablespoonghee
  10. 1 tspRai
  11. 1/2 tspcumin
  12. 1 pinchhing
  13. 1 tspurad dal (optional)
  14. 5-6curry leaves
  15. 1red dried chilli
  16. 1 tablespoonghee

Cooking Instructions

    Add rice and dal to the IP liner and wash well.

    Once the rice and dal are washed, rinse excess water and add all the spices and ghee and mixed. Add water, mix and close IP.

    Set vent to sealing and cook on high pressure for 8 minutes

  4. 4

    Quick release after 5 minutes NPR

  5. 5

    Once the NPR starts, start the tarka on the side.

    Add oil/ghee/butter as per your liking and Hing, rai and cumin seeds

  7. 7

    Once the cumin browns a bit add urad dal and wait for it to become light brown

  8. 8

    Add curry leaves and dried chilli and mix well.

  9. 9

    Once the chilli has blackened slightly switch off the gas and add it on top of the khichdi in the instant pot.

    Mix with a fork just like you are fluffing rice

  11. 11

    Can add fresh coriander and some more ghee to finish.
