Gingerbread cookies

Ingredients

  1. 3 cupall purpose flour
  2. 1 1/2 tspbaking powder
  3. 3/4 tspbaking soda
  4. 1/4 tspsalt
  5. 1 tbspground ginger
  6. 1 3/4 tspground cinnamon
  7. 1/4 tspground cloved
  8. 6 tbspunsalted butter
  9. 3/4 cupdark brown sugar
  10. 1 largeegg
  11. 1/2 cupmolasses
  12. 2 tspvanilla extract

Cooking Instructions

    Preheat oven to 375°F. Prepare baking sheets by spraying with cooking spray or lining with parchment paper

    In small bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and cloves until well blended.

    In a large bowl beat butter, brown sugar and egg on medium speed until well blended.

    Gradually stir in dry ingredients until blended and smooth

  5. 5

    Divide dough in half and wrap each half in plastic and let stand at room temperature for 2 hours

    Place one portion of dough on a lightly floured surface

  7. 7

    Sprinkle flour over dough and rolling pin

  8. 8

    Roll dough to scant 1/4 inch thick

  9. 9

    Cut out cookies with desired cookie cutter

  10. 10

    Space cookies 1 1/2 inches apart

  11. 11

    Bake for 7 to 10 minutes. The lower time will give softer cookies

  12. 12

    After cookies cool you can decorate them any way you like.

Hi, I tried making a recipe like this one but my dough was too runny and sticky, does it matter if you use salted butter and dark brown sugar?
