Ingredients

  1. 2 cupgrated beet root (steam cooked and peeled)
  2. 1/4 upbutter
  3. 2 tbspdark California raisins
  4. 20cashews
  5. 1 cupbrown sugar
  6. 1 tspcardamom powder
  7. 1 tsplicorice powder
  8. pinchsalt
  9. 3/4 cupsweetened condensed milk
  10. dessert halwa

Cooking Instructions

    Make a checklist. Keep all ingredients close by

    STEAM COOK BEET FOR A FEW MINUTES IN PRESSURE COOKER. Do NOT OVERCOOK. JUST FORK TENDER. PEEL, GRATE
    On medium low flame melt butter in a heavy bottomed saucepan. Fry raisins and cashews remove and keep aside.
    In the same pot continue cooking over medium low flame. Add the grated beet. =about 5 minutes with stirring,

    Add brown sugar. It will liquefy. Add cardamom and licorice powder. Stir in. when it gets fairly thick stir in condensed milk. Continue cooking over low flame.for 10 more minutes

    The contents would boil. When it gets thicker like a sauce, turn off the heat. Cool. It would become soft silky smooth halwa. Transfer the halwa to a serving bowl Garnish with cashews and raisins. taste to make sure that it meets your expectation, Serve hot or cold. Share and celebrate.
