Here I have made a Bhakri using Thecha which is a Maharashtrian Zanzanit Condiment. This is a perfect breakfast dish washed down with a glass of chilled buttermilk.

Ingredients

25 minutes
Makes 11 bhakris
  1. Thecha Chatni : 👇
  2. 2-3 tspoil
  3. 10-15green chillies (mild variety)
  4. 2-3green chillies (spicy variety)
  5. 10-12garlic flakes
  6. 1/2 cuproasted peanuts, coarse powder
  7. 2 tbspsesame
  8. 2 tbspcumin seeds
  9. Salt to taste
  10. 1/4 tspasafoetida
  11. Dough for Bhakri :
  12. 1/2 cupjowar flour
  13. 1/2 cupcoarse wheat flour
  14. 1/4 cupregular wheat flour
  15. 11/2 tspcumin seeds
  16. 3-4 tbspoil for moin
  17. 2 tspchopped coriander
  18. 3-4 tbspThecha Chatni
  19. Salt to taste
  20. (1 - 2 tsp only)Water as required

Cooking Instructions

    Thecha Chatni : Take oil in a pan, warm it a little, add both the varieties of green chillies, garlic & peanut powder. Saute a little.

    Add sesame seeds & cumin seeds. Add asafoetida & mix well.

    Cool the mixture & take it in a mixer jar. Blend to a coarse paste. Add salt & mix.

    How to make Bhakri Dough : Take jowar, coarse wheat flour & regular wheat flours in a thali / bowl. Add the rest of the ingredients.Add 2 - 3 tbsp of Thecha Chatni.Mix very well so oil i. e. moin & Chatni gets incorporated very well in the flours. Cover & rest the dough for 15 - 20 minutes.

    Now knead the dough & take 1 small portion of the dough. Roll into a thick bhakri. Cut into the desired size with the help of a biscuit cutter. Remove the extra dough.

    Heat the tawa / girdle. Roast the bhakri (4 at a time) on a very slow flame with the help of a wooden press or cloth. Apply ghee & cook till golden & crispy from all sides. Remove in a plate. Serve.

    Note : You can store these jawarichi Thecha Bhakri for 3-4 days & serve it with a cuppa of hot tea or chilled buttermilk.
