Ingredients

30 minutes
2 servings
  1. 1 cupdates deseeded and chopped
  2. 1 tbspghee
  3. 1/3 cupMawa / Khoya (homemade)
  4. 3/4 cuphot water or hot milk
  5. 1/4 tspcardamom powder
  6. 1 pinchNutmeg powder
  7. 1 tbspchopped almonds
  8. 1 tspchopped pistachio

Cooking Instructions

    Remove the seeds from dates. Then chop the dates Place in a medium sized bowl and add ¾ cup of hot water. Soak dates completely in hot water. Cover the bowl and keep aside for 30 minutes.

    Dates become soft after 30 minutes. Put the dates in a mixer jar along with the remaining soak water and grind it to a fine paste.

    If the mawa is store bought, dry roast it in a pan for 2-3 minutes before using.

    Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a nonstick kadai or heavy bottomed pan. Add date paste and fry for 5 minutes. Add mava and saute for 2-3 minutes.

    Mix the dates and mawa well and cook until the mixture thickens a bit. Add chopped almonds, chopped pistachios, cardamom powder, nutmeg powder and saute for few minutes.

    After the mixture starts leaving the sides of the pan. Saute for few seconds and switch off the gas.
