Easy double beans fry (lima beans fry)

This double beans fry WAS a regular dish at our home and its very easy and simple. It Can be made quickly and tastes delicious. My mom's cooking includes most of the bean varieties, raw as well dried ones. She makes varieties of dishes using beans like stews,frys,masalas,kurmas etc.. Post-marriage my taste buds got changed so was my mom's preparing of dishes too. And thats how the gap between beans and me happened(LOLLLL :D). Recently one of my friend sent a pic of the double beans gravy which she had made for her lunch. I was drooling over that and wanna taste it at once. So, that evening i went and bought a packet of dried double beans and made it today. I enjoyed it to my hearts content contrary to my hubby who doesn't know what it is. :P
This is a great side dish for rasam, sambar and even curd rice.
So do try it and enjoy this amazing recipe with rice or roti. :)

Ingredients

  1. 1 cupbeans / lima beans double lima
  2. 1 noonion Big
  3. 1 tspcumin seeds
  4. 2 tspsred chilli powder
  5. 2 tspscoriander powder
  6. 1/2 tspcumin powder
  7. 1/2 tspturmeric
  8. 2 noscurry leaves springs
  9. coriander leaves few
  10. 3 tbspsoil
  11. to tastesalt

Cooking Instructions

    Wash and soak the double beans for 6-7 hours or overnight. Pressure cook it for 3 whistles adding little salt.

    In a frying pan add oil and heat it. Add cumin seeds.

    When it splutters add chopped onions.

  4. 4

    Saute the onions till transparent and then add curry leaves.

    Fry it for a minute and add the double beans.

    Now add salt and all the powders listed in ingredients list and mix well.

    Sprinkle little water and combine them well. Cook it covered for few more minutes until there is no water and switch off the flame. Garnish it with few chopped coriander.

    Serve it as a side dish with roti/rice.
