Crispy, Chewy, Fluffy Bread Pudding ♡

I made this because I had ripen bananas and leftover bread ♡
I used chocolate syrup I had in the house. You can make it with matcha or cocoa too.

It takes a bit longer, but it really tastes good if you soak the bread well in the egg mixture in Step 6.
If the bread seems to be getting too brown while baking, cover the baking dish with foil. ^^ Recipe by marimo2020

Ingredients

2 servings
  1. 2 sliceBread of your choice (I used 2 slices of a six slice loaf)
  2. 2Whole eggs
  3. 300 mlMilk
  4. 2 tbspSugar (Granulated, light brown, white)
  5. 1Vanilla Oil or Vanilla Essence
  6. 1Your favorite fruit
  7. 1Powdered sugar to finish

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Assemble the ingredients.

  2. 2

Preheat oven to 220℃. Grease the baking dish with butter or margarine.

  3. 3

Beat the eggs and sugar together. It's easier if you use a fork!

  4. 4

Stir the milk into the beaten eggs. Add 1 or 2 drops of vanilla and mix. If using chocolate syrup or caramel syrup, mix it in at this point.

  5. 5

If using slices of loaf bread, cut into 6 pieces. For baguette or brioche, cut into large bite-sized pieces.

  6. 6

thaPour about 1/3 of the egg mixture in a shallow dish and soak both sides of the bread. (5~10 minutes for best results ^^)

  7. 7

Arrange and layer the bread slices in the greased baking dish so the crusts face up.

  8. 8

Scatter fruits of your choice under and around the bread. This time, I used banana slices.

  9. 9

Pour the remaining egg mixture. ※For French toast, in Step 6, let the bread soak up all of the egg mixture.

  10. 10

Lower the temperature of the preheated oven to 200℃ and bake for 20~25 minutes.

  11. 11

This time, I put 2 tablespoons of chocolate sauce in 1/2 of the egg mixture and made half chocolate flavored. Be sure to soak the sides as well.^^

  12. 12

If you like, use coffee flavored milk or tea flavored milk. Instead of sugar, you can use caramel syrup, maple syrup, condensed milk, or honey.

  13. 13

This is the chocolate version made with chocolate syrup ♪

  14. 14

Sprinkle powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar after baking. This is the plain type with powdered sugar ♪

  15. 15

This time I used 1 egg and 140 ml of milk. For French Toast cooked in a frying pan, use 1 egg and 80~100 ml of milk.
