T' Jim's New Orleans Red Beans & Rice T' Jim's New Orleans Red Beans & Rice
"I love you once, I love you twice. I love you more than red beans and rice.", so they say here in Louisiana. There is a common misconception that this dish is Cajun, but in fact; it is more Creole/New Orleans that has Cajun influences. Typically back in the old days, red beans and rice were always made on Monday because that was "Wash Day" and housewives could put on a pot in the morning and let them simmer all day while they attended to the wash. If ever there was a bean made for slow stewing, it's the broad bean. And, if ever there was a pot for slow stewing, it's the tagine. Ubiquitous allspice, fresh ground, pulls this recipe together. AntoniAAT -
Red Beans & Rice Red Beans & Rice
Note: this is what happens when there’s not many “rice” eaters in the fam. Most of the beans and sausage is eaten and mostly bean juice and rice is left over. That’s when the juice and rice is mixed together for another dish. #GlobalApron 2024 Sonya Bankester -
Italian-Style Stewed White Kidney Beans Italian-Style Stewed White Kidney Beans
Stewing kidney beans or chickpeas with pasta creates an Italian home-cooked style bean pasta dish. I tried to reduce the cooking time by adding tomato purée and couscous, and it turned out delicious. If you cook the herb vegetables very well, there should be no need to use bouillon or other stock!! Salt should be enough. It's also tasty if you substitute shio-koji for the salt. Recipe by kebeibiko cookpad.japan -

Southern smoky green beans Southern smoky green beans
I love a good crisp tender sautéed green bean but this isn’t that. This is old fashioned southern smoky green beans done so easy it’s almost embarrassing. It starts with regular old canned green beans but tastes slow cooked. Make enough for tmrw because it’s better the next day. If you reeeeeally wanna make this southern, add small new potatoes (small red potatoes). SherryRandall: The Leftover Chronicles -

Fava Bean Paste (or Edamame) Fava Bean Paste (or Edamame)
I got a lot of fava beans from a friend, so I made this. It's also delicious made from edamame. It takes a little bit of work, but all the steps are fairly simple. In Step 2, use the strainer for a smooth feel, while mashing with a fork retains some of the bean feel. Both are delicious. Please adjust the sugar amount as desired. I use 30 g to better make use of the flavor of the beans. Recipe by mary cookpad.japan
