Ingredients

  1. 2 cupall purpose flour (self rising)
  2. 3 teaspoonbaking powder (baking soda)
  3. 2/3 stickbutter cold cut into cubes
  4. 2/3 cupcold water
  5. 2 tablespoonsneutral tasting oil
  6. 1 tablespoonsugar
  7. 2/3 teaspoonkosher salt
  8. As neededkosher salt for sprinkling top
  9. 1/3 cupmelted butter for brushing top of crackers

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Cube the butter.

  2. 2

Mix the flour, butter, baking powder, neutral oil, salt, and sugar. It should look like sand.

  3. 3

Add water a bit at the time. Mix well form a ball.

  4. 4

Lay out wax paper and sprinkle with all purpose flour for rolling.

  5. 5

Roll the dough out super duper thin on wax paper.

  6. 6

Poke holes all over. I did the rolling and poking in batches.

  7. 7

I used a cookie cutter to cut the crackers for half of the dough. Take the border scraps and re-roll the dough for more crackers.

  8. 8

Then I used a pizza cutter for the rest. You can also cut with a knife.

  9. 9

Lift the wax paper up and set onto a baking sheet.

  10. 10

Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes or till golden brown.

  11. 11

Take out quickly brush with butter then sprinkle with the kosher salt immediately or the salt won't stay on.

  12. 12

Let cool then store in an air tight container or serve them then. I hope you enjoy!!

  13. 13

To make soda crackers substitute all purpose flour with self rising flour. Then substitute the baking powder with baking soda.
