Penne and potato gratin to consume milk 🥛 Christmas dinner 2022 🎄❄️

Few days back, Japanese prime minister called on people to drink a cup of milk than we normally do and also to use more milk for cooking 🥛 This is to avoid huge wastage of milk(estimated to be around 5,000 tones just in this winter!) which is caused due to the lower demand of the milk in schools’ meals and restaurants during the year end.
So, I decided to make this macaroni gratin which I can use up some milk for the Christmas dinner 🎄✨

Salmon Meuniere in 15mins (Japanese style) Salmon Meuniere in 15mins (Japanese style)
Meunière is a word originally coming from France which means “to prepare something(for example fish) by dredging it in flour, pan fried in butter and served with the butter sauce”.Although it’s a French style of cooking, most Japanese students learn how to cook this “Salmon Meunière” in school during home economics cooking class. So did I.As for Japanese version, the key is to use butter and “soy sauce” for the finishing sauce. It’s so delicious and easy so hoping that you will also try this Japanese all time favorite fish dish! Kanaaneko -

Korean yangnyeom chicken made with homemade sauce - 양념치킨🇰🇷 Korean yangnyeom chicken made with homemade sauce - 양념치킨🇰🇷
Korean yangnyom chicken is one of the most popular foods which we've seen in lots of Korean dramas. When I went to Seoul last time, I found chicken shops everywhere. There are about 36,000 fried chicken restaurants in South Korea(data as of 2016). This is more than the number of McDonald's stores worldwide!!😱💦According to my husband, who is from Korea, yangnyeom chicken is usually not a home-cooked food and people mostly buy or order from outside. However, in overseas, we cannot always find Korean chicken shops. Also, I believe that the homemade one can be a bit more healthier than the one from outside. Therefore, I searched for over 10 recipes from several sources both in Korean and Japanese and made my own original sauce🙌 My husband loved it so it must be close to the authentic one!In Korea, pickled radishes always come together with yangnyeom chicken. I have uploaded the recipe too, so please cook together!!❤️ Kanaaneko -

Hainan chicken rice cooked in Staub pot 🐓 "So shiok!" 😋🇸🇬 Hainan chicken rice cooked in Staub pot 🐓 "So shiok!" 😋🇸🇬
Having lived in Singapore for around 10 years, Hainan chicken rice is one of my most favorite dishes of all! ❤️I’m always missing the taste in local hawker center, especially Tian Tian in Maxwell food court. My recipe is still very far from that authentic professional level, but I’m confident that this is delicious enough to enjoy at home😁 And it’s so easy too!(You don’t need to prepare a whole chicken or boil it for few hours)Instead of using a Staub pot, you can use a rice cooker to cook chicken and rice too!As for the sauce, please try dark soy sauce if you can buy it as it usually comes together with chicken rice in Singapore. Since it’s not widely available in Japan, this time I made an original sauce(which is also tasty though!).😉*Shiok means delicious in Singlish. Kanaaneko -
Unpeeled pumpkin soup 🎃🧡 Unpeeled pumpkin soup 🎃🧡
Cookpad has started a global campaign to share #cookeverypart recipes, so I decided not to peel the pumpkin skin which I usually did when I make the soup. It’s with skin, but it’s really delicious and I knew that the skin part has two times more β carotene than the orange part of the pumpkin!! 🎃My own challenge in October: #1day1recipe 😆 Kanaaneko -

Chinese style crab meat omelette on rice “Tenshinhan”, cooking for 1 person - 天津飯 Chinese style crab meat omelette on rice “Tenshinhan”, cooking for 1 person - 天津飯
“Tenshinhan” is recognized as Chinese dish in Japan, but it was actually born in Japan, which I didn’t know until just now😂It’s easy but fulfilling and looks good too. As I know that my mother, who is a housewife, often cooks this for lunch when she is alone at home(I know this because she sent me URLs of Cookpad Japan’s “Tenshinhan” recipes or her cooksnaps few times before).Today, as I had to take a dinner by myself, I remembered this dish and tried cooking it. I combined 2 recipes from Cookpad Japan and here I would like to save my version. Kanaaneko -

I used to live in Jakarta, Indonesia during my childhood. When I visited my Indonesian friend’s house, her mother cooked us a very delicious and comforting Soto Ayam. Therefore, I need to cook at home. This recipe is mainly based on what I found from Cookpad Japan. This soup is traditionally said to have many health benefits and it's especially popular as a way to recover from hangover😅 You might have seen this soup in the K drama too. In many cases, people from K drama are eating this in the morning after too much drinking on the night before...😂If you can find "Korean dried shredded pollock/pollack", then please try making this very comforting soup!! (The best dried pollock is dried by the wind from the sea, which is called "Hwangtae (황태)". Please see the pollack package from my step photo too.) Kanaaneko
