Alkaki is a sweet treat common among the hausa tribe of northern nigeria.It is mostly made during weddings.I decided to try out alkaki for the first time and it came out fabolous.

Cooking Instructions

In a bowl,mix together wheat oil and water and knead the texture will be rough.Gather into a ball,cover and allow to rise over night

In the morning,pour the mixture into a mortar and pound gradually sprinkling water untill the mixture is fully combined and can be rolled.

On a greased surface,roll the mixture into strips and twist just like in the picture below.You can cut into shapes if you find it difficult to roll

Line on a greased tray and allow to rise for an hour

Heat oil and deep fry on both sides untill golden brown

Coat your alkaki with sugar syrup while still hot

Allow to drain and enjoy
