Ingredients

20 minutes
5 servings
  1. 1 cupmoong dal
  2. 1 cupghee
  3. 1 cupsugar
  4. 1 cupwarm milk +water mixture
  5. 7-8saffron strands soaked in warm milk
  6. 2 tbspchopped almonds
  7. 2 tbspchopped cashews

Cooking Instructions

    Grind the moong dal in mixture. Let few dals remain whole.

    Chop the almonds and cashews.

  3. 3

    Soak the saffron strands in warm milk.

  4. 4

    Take ghee in a nonstick pan.

  5. 5

    Heat the ghee and melt it. Now add the crushed moong dal to the pan.

  6. 6

    Mix it properly and cook on low to medium flame.

  7. 7

    Stir continuously till the mixture releases aroma and bubbles are formed. This will take around 8-10 minutes.

    Now add sugar to it an mix it properly.

    Now add the saffron soaked in warm milk to it.

    Mix well and add the warm milk+water mixture.

  11. 11

    Mix everything together and add the chopped almonds and cashews to it.

    Mix everything properly.

  13. 13

    Cook till the halwa leaves the sides of the pan.

  14. 14

    Serve hot halwa garnished with chopped almonds and cashews.
