Ingredients

  1. 1 tbspolive oil
  2. 3garlic cloves, minced
  3. 1onion, diced
  4. 1bell pepper diced
  5. 1 lb/ 500g beef mince / ground beef
  6. 3 tbsptomato paste
  7. 800 g/ 28 oz can crushed tomato
  8. 14 oz/ 420g can red kidney beans
  9. 2 cupsbeef broth
  10. 1&1/2 tsp sugar
  11. 1/2-1&1/2 cup water
  12. Salt and pepper
  13. *Chilli Spice Mix**
  14. 1-2 tspcayenne pepper (depending on taste)
  15. 4 tsppaprika powder
  16. 2 tspcumin powder
  17. 2 tspgarlic powder
  18. 2 tsponion powder
  19. 2 tsporegano

Cooking Instructions

    Heat oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add garlic and onion, cook for 1 minute, then add bell pepper and cook for 2 minutes until onion is translucent

    Turn heat up to high and add beef. Cook, breaking it up as you go, until mostly browned.
    Add Chili Spice Mix. Cook until beef is browned all over. (This step helps release extra flavour from the spices)

    Add remaining ingredients, with 1/2 cup of water for Quick Cook or 1 1/2 cups for Slow Cook. Bring to simmer, and cook for 20-40mins, uncovered and on medium heat.

    Serve over rice, nacho chips or over sausage.
