Refried Beans

Adrianne Meszaros @adriannemeszaros
It's hard not to make refried beans when we have authentic spanish rice.
Cooking Instructions
- 1
In a large pan heat olive oil. Add in jalapeño. Pro tip * you can cut up the pepper to help cook a little quicker.
- 2
Open pinto beans, strain only one can of beans. Add in beans. Once the beans start to boil. Turn heat to low and start smashing the beans. You can use a potato smasher or the bottom of a cup. Top with Chihuahua cheese if desired and enjoy!

Refried Beans
Living in Western China, pinto beans are rare, so I use kidney beans.

Refried Beans
I love this recipe because it is so simple and fully customizable. You can add more or less of anything to suit your taste, like if you prefer spicy, add 1/2tsp cayenne to give it a little kick, substitute the chili powder and cumin with a packet of taco seasoning. And you can multiply the recipe and freeze in 1-2cup portions for quick use in the future :ohyeaah

Refried Beans - Slow Cooker
This is, by far, the easiest way to make homemade refried beans. It does take some planning ahead, but for the most part, this recipe is very hands off. These are creamy and nicely seasoned. They're not spicy, so long as you remove the seeds from the jalapeno. Feel free to substitute the pinto beans for black beans to mix things up.

Refried Beans: Mark 3
This is a recipe originally taken from Leslie Koehn’s Brazilian Beans, but I altered it through trial and error to fit my needs. This resulted in a mix of healthy and delicious ingredients that will put any restaurant’s refried beans to shame.Note: After you learn to make it, neither restaurant nor store bought refried beans will ever taste the same again as your taste buds will only demand the rich flavors that only this very own dish can provide!

Canned Pinto Beans for Refried Beans

Best Refried Beans Ever!!
Got this recipe from my mother-in-law who is from Guadalajara Mexico. She converted the traditional "lard" recipe to olive oil. These are better than any restaurant I have been to. Way better than canned and so cheap to make. Full of iron and healthy carbs.

Substitute for Refried beans
I thought I had refried beans and well I didn’t and the recipe I was making called for it, so I came up with this... and because I was already using taco seasoning for the dish I was making I added it to the beans too. I was making my beans dip and I didn’t have the main ingredient lol.... this recipe turned out awesome and I might be making my refried beans this way for now on, way better than the can stuff, and so easy.

BEST EVER refried beans

Nan's Refried Beans
DOUBLE-RICH BROTH NOTE: The secret to the awesome flavor of this dish is the broth they're cooked in. Whenever I make a pot roast or shredded beef in the slow cooker, I save all the extra broth, which is concentrated, that comes from cooking them; vacuum seal it and keep frozen until I've enough to make these delicious refried beans. Store-bought broth just won't do! Try my beans and you'll agree they're well worth the extra effort!
