I ran out of commercial simple syrup, but remembered this recipe that I used to make.

There isn't much to this recipe. It's really easy so just give it a go.

Ingredients

  1. 250 gramsSugar
  2. 150 mlWater
  3. 1 sliceLemon slice

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Add the water and sugar to a saucepan and heat on medium.

  2. 2

Turn off the heat just before the mixture comes to a boil.

  3. 3

Add the lemon slice; this is to get rid of the scum.

  4. 4

Leave the lemon in for a while to eliminate the scum, and leaves the mixture clear. (Once the scum has gone, take out the lemon.)

  5. 5

Pour the mixture into an empty bottle and you're done. It's best to store the simple syrup in the refrigerator.
