Ingredients

15 Minutes
1 serving
  1. 1piece of thick-sliced bread
  2. Cheddar or mozzarella cheese, to taste
  3. 1egg
  4. Butter, to taste
  5. 1-3 leavesFresh basil,
  6. Salt, to taste
  7. Pepper, to taste
  8. Other seasonings

Cooking Instructions

15 Minutes
  1. 1

Preheat oven to 390 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. 2

Get out small baking sheet, put parchment paper on sheet.

  3. 3

Put the piece of bread, on the sheet. Then, with a tablespoon, make a large indentation in the bread. Make sure this is deep enough to hold the yolk.

  4. 4

Butter the bread. Try not to put butter in the indentation.

  5. 5

Carefully, crack the egg and pour it into the "hole". It's okay for the white to get out, but remember to keep the yolk in.

  6. 6

Next, put cheese on the bread. It's best to keep the cheese off of the yolk, so that you better know when it's done cooking.

  7. 7

Now you can put the sheet with the bread on it in the oven at 390f. If you want a runny yolk, check on it after 7 minutes, then take it out at 9 or 10. If you want a solid yolk, keep it in for 12 or 13 minutes.

  8. 8

After you take it out, put the basil if you have it on top along with other seasonings. You can put on hot sauce, garlic, or my favorite, chili flakes.
