Someone requested it from me, I had never made it before. My whole family had a serving before I could give it to the person who requested it. DELISH!

Ingredients

8-10 servings
  1. 1-2 lbslean ground beef (~depending how meaty you want it)
  2. 1onion, diced
  3. 4garlic cloves, minced
  4. 2carrots, diced small
  5. 2 tbstomato paste
  6. 1large can, tomato sauce
  7. 1large can, stewed tomatoes
  8. 5 cupsbeef broth
  9. 4 cupsgreen cabbage, sliced medium-thin
  10. 1 cuplong grain rice, uncooked
  11. 1 tbsbrown sugar (to balance all that acid out)
  12. 1.5 tspdried basil
  13. 1.5 tspdried parsley
  14. 1 tspdried thyme
  15. 1 tspdried oregano
  16. Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

In a large pot, brown and break up your ground beef. If its fatty, drain some of the fat once browned

  2. 2

Add your onions and garlic, cook 3-5min until onions are translucent. Then add the tomato paste and brown sugar. Mix until combined.

  3. 3

Add the rest of your veggies along with your tomato sauce and canned stewed tomatoes. Cook this for about 5min and bring to a wild bubble (to cook out the tin tomato flavour)

  4. 4

Pour in your rice. Taste it for salt and pepper and other seasoning. Turn the heat down to medium-low.

  5. 5

It's ready when the rice is cooked. Enjoy!!!

Not enough liquid. Was nowhere near soup but was still very good. Made enough to feed 12! I used 2 lbs ground beef.
