Ingredients

2 servings
  1. 2New potatoes
  2. 2 slicePork roast or loin (for tonkatsu)
  3. 1 cloveGarlic
  4. 1 tbspButter
  5. 2 tspSoy sauce
  6. 2 tspMirin
  7. 1/4 tspSalt (to pre-season the meat)

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Make small cuts in between the fat and meat of the pork slices.

  2. 2

Sprinkle the pork with 1/4 teaspoon of salt.

  3. 3

Press the salt into the meat.

  4. 4

Cut each slice of pork into 4-5 pieces.

  5. 5

Wash the potatoes well, wrap in plastic wrap with the skins on, and microwave for about 3 minutes at 500w.

  6. 6

When the potatoes have cooled down, cut into 1 cm slices with the skins on.

  7. 7

Put butter in a pan (over low heat since butter burns easily!).

  8. 8

Add garlic. Cook over low heat until fragrant.

  9. 9

Raise the heat to medium and add the pork. Brown for about 4 minutes on each side.

  10. 10

Take the pork out and sauté the potato slices in the same pan.

  11. 11

Put the pork back in the pan and add 2 teaspoons of soy sauce, 2 teaspoons of mirin, and mix.

  12. 12

    Serve!
