Layered Pork "Steak" with Cheese using Thinly Sliced Pork Offcuts

I wanted to make a surprisingly hearty dish using thinly sliced pork offcuts.
My husband thought it was chicken the first time, and he was surprised, as I predicted.
Since it's not a lump of meat, it's very tender, and even my 4 year old loved it and ate a big portion!
If you use plastic wrap you can form the layered steak very easily.
Make sure to fold in the sides so that the cheese won't come melting out while pan frying. For 3 to 4 servings. Recipe by Yusase mama

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Spread a large sheet of plastic wrap on a big cutting board. Sprinkle the katakuriko on the plastic evenly.
- 2
Spread the pork on top, overlapping the slices a little. Season with salt and pepper, and put the 2 slices of cheese in the middle.
- 3
Dredge again with katakuriko.
- 4
Lift up the plastic wrap and wrap the cheese with the pork. Press down with your hands over the plastic.
- 5
Combine the ★ ingredients.
- 6
Spread oil thinly in a pan and pan fry the layered pork. Turn over when browned on one side, turn the heat down to low and cover with aluminium foil.
- 7
When the pork is cooked through, add the combined sauce ingredients and coat the pork with it. When the sauce has thickened slightly, it's done. Cut into easy to eat pieces and serve.
- 8
I stir-fried bean sprouts beforehand, line a plate with it and serve the pork on top. Serve with vegetables of your choice.

Hearty Pork Steak Hearty Pork Steak
My hubby saw "Yokka-city Tonteki" (pork steak from Mie prefecture) on TV and said he wanted to try it, so I made my own version.I think thick cut pork is juicier and tastier, so I used a bock sliced about 3 cm thick. There's a lot of sauce and it's pretty rich, so use it for the cabbage and rice too. For 2 servings. Recipe by Meruchanlove cookpad.japan -

Sweet and Salty Pork Steak Sweet and Salty Pork Steak
I learned this recipe from my mother-in-law who is a great cook. The sweet and salty sauce will whet your appetite. Every time I make this, we run out of rice. It is a sure hit menu of my family. If you keep the meat macerated for too long or if you rub it in, the taste will be too strong so be careful. But when you don't have so much time, you can rub and grill it. Recipe by Miwamailove cookpad.japan -

Soy sauce, sugar, onion and garlic in a roasting bag for both marinade and roast! Cookpad Auntie Eiko posted this, it is brilliant to marinade and roast in the same bag. Most tender pork steak ever!I tried it a few times and tweaked her recipe by adding a lemon and a mild red onion for the marinade to make a sweet and sour gravy to my liking. Thank you Eiko. The roasting bag is expensive and does not survive the oven for reuse, so I tried a ceramic roasting dish with heavy glass lid for both marinade and roast. Success! Hobby Horseman -
