Ingredients

  1. for meatballs
  2. 1 lbground beef
  3. 1egg
  4. 1/2minced onion
  5. 3minced garlic cloves
  6. 1/4 cupmilk
  7. 3/4 cupbreadcrumbs
  8. tbspbasil
  9. salt and pepper
  10. for stew
  11. 1 headcabbage shredded
  12. 1 cancrushed tomatoes
  13. 1 (8 oz)can tomato sauce
  14. 1/2 cupbeef broth
  15. juice from 1 lemon
  16. 2 tbspworceshire sauce
  17. 1/4 cupbrown sugar

Cooking Instructions

    Make meatballs, set aside.

    Mix everything together for the stew, except cabbage.

    In a large soup pot heated on medium low, add half the cabbage

  4. 4

    Then add meatballs

  5. 5

    Then add half the sauce

  6. 6

    Then the rest of cabbage

  7. 7

    And top with sauce. Get to a slow boil, then cover. Cook 20 min, then stir. Cook another 20 min covered.

    Serve with a dollop of sour cream! So yum!

Amazing!! I have a big family, so I used a pound each of ground beef and Italian sausage for the meatballs, chopped up some potatoes, boiled them til they were almost tender, and added those, then kept the rest of the recipe the same. Even my VERY picky 5 year old daughter liked it!
